The goal of every surveillance investigation is to remain discreet. Professional surveillance is carefully planned to minimize the possibility of detection while documenting relevant activities from lawful observation points. Unfortunately no investigator can guarantee the subject they are watching won’t find out they are under surveillance. In the event this does happen I can usually pivot quickly and continue the investigation, but it does get a lot more complicated at that point.
